Affiliate Program Terms
Last updated: July 7, 2026
Thanks for wanting to share Tally. These terms are between you and Tally Accounting Software Limited (registered in England & Wales, registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU) and cover how the affiliate program works — commissions, payouts, and the small number of things that will get you removed.
01Eligibility — you must actually use Tally
The Tally affiliate program is an advocate program for paying customers. To join, and to keep earning, you must hold an active paid Tally subscription (monthly, yearly, or lifetime). Free trials do not count as paid.
Why? Because recommending a product you don't pay for yourself isn't a real recommendation. Requiring active paid use keeps the program a genuine advocate program, satisfies "bona fide user" endorsement rules (FTC in the US, ASA in the UK, EU UCPD), and makes clear this is not — and can never be sold as — a "get-rich-quick", pyramid or money-making opportunity. People buy Tally to use Tally; the affiliate program is a perk for happy customers, nothing more.
Once eligible, we assign you a fixed numeric affiliate code (e.g.tally.ac/?ref=104829) on the Affiliate page in Settings. The code is auto-assigned, unique to you, and can't be edited or changed — this removes any surface for handle-squatting or brand-adjacent naming. Share your personal link and by using the program you agree to these terms and to Tally's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
02Commission (single tier only)
You earn 35% of every purchase your referral makes, for as long as your own Tally subscription remains active. Commissions are calculated on the amount actually paid (net of any promo code or refund) and in the same currency Tally received.
Attribution is based on the last referral link clicked before signup, stored for 90 days. Self-referrals don't count.
Attribution is final and cannot be changed. Whoever the referred user's link was attributed to at signup is the affiliate for that account — permanently. We do not manually reassign, transfer, split, retro-credit, or "correct" attribution after the fact, for any reason. This includes:
- The user says they meant to use your link but forgot, used the wrong one, or clicked another affiliate's link later.
- The user cleared cookies, switched device or browser, or the 90-day window expired before they signed up.
- You and another affiliate both influenced the sale and want to split it.
- You referred someone offline (in person, by voice, by phone) and they signed up without clicking your link.
- An account was created without a referral link and later "should have been" yours.
It is your responsibility to make sure people you refer actually click your affiliate link before they sign up. Attribution disputes between affiliates, or between an affiliate and a referred user, are not something Tally arbitrates or gets involved in. The attribution recorded by our system at signup is authoritative and final.
Single-tier only. You earn on direct referrals of real end users. You do not earn a cut of anyone else's referrals, and there is no "downline". Tally will never add multi-level, matrix or recruitment-based earnings.
Commissions pause automatically if your Tally subscription lapses, becomes past-due, is cancelled, or reverts to a trial. New sales during that period do not accrue. Commissions resume from the moment you reactivate a paid plan.
03Payouts
We pay out monthly by direct bank transfer, once your earned balance reaches a minimum of $25. Configure your receiving account under Settings → Bank Details — we support UK BACS, US ACH, SEPA, Canada EFT, Australia BSB, and international wires. Under-threshold balances roll to the next month.
Commissions become payable 30 days after the underlying purchase to allow for refund and chargeback windows. Refunded purchases reverse the corresponding commission.
04How to promote Tally
Do:
- Share your honest, first-hand experience of Tally — reviews, tutorials, comparisons.
- Disclose you're an affiliate every time (e.g. "affiliate link", "I earn a commission"). This is required by the FTC (US), ASA/CAP (UK) and EU consumer law, and it's simply good practice.
- Represent Tally accurately and use our brand assets as provided, without altering the logo.
- Give realistic examples of your own results, if you share them at all.
Don't:
- Market Tally as a way to make money. Tally is a tallying tool. The affiliate program is a perk for happy customers, not a reason to buy Tally. Promoting Tally as a "side hustle", "passive income stream", "get-rich-quick" or business opportunity is prohibited and will get you removed.
- Make earnings claims ("make $10k/mo", "quit your job with Tally", income screenshots, projected earnings). Ever.
- Bid on Tally-branded keywords ("tally", "tally.ac", common misspellings) in paid search or shopping.
- Run cashback, coupon, auto-redirect or toolbar sites that inject the referral link without a genuine click.
- Spam — unsolicited email, DMs, forum flooding, comment stuffing.
- Make false claims about Tally, its pricing, features, or the results it will get someone.
- Register domains, social handles, or app names that include "tally" or that could confuse users.
- Use trademarks, images or content you don't have the right to use.
- Attempt to onboard "sub-affiliates" or sell access to your referral link. The program is single-tier.
Violations cancel any unpaid commissions and can lead to removal from the program.
05Taxes
You are responsible for reporting affiliate income and paying any taxes owed on it in your country. Depending on your location we may need a tax form or VAT/GST information before we can pay you.
06Changes and termination
We may change commission rates, program rules, or eligibility with reasonable notice (email or in-app). Changes only affect commissions on purchases made after the change takes effect.
Either of us can end your participation in the program at any time. If you end it, you'll still receive commissions already earned and eligible for payout. If we end it because you broke these rules, any unpaid commissions may be forfeited.
07Relationship
The affiliate program does not create an employment, agency, joint venture or partnership relationship. You are an independent contractor. You may not represent yourself as an employee or agent of Tally.
08Liability and disputes
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Tally's total liability under the affiliate program is limited to the commissions payable to you in the 12 months before a claim. Disputes about commission calculations must be raised within 60 days of the payout in question; after that, calculations are final.
